Academics

Why does a child attend school? What is the purpose of the countless hours and expenditures of effort? Is it simply to prepare a child for a career – to train a student in the means necessary to make a living and excel in life? Or is there a greater purpose?

Hobe Sound Christian Academy focuses on academic quality. Students learn foundational materials that equip them with the tools that will allow them to make a significant contribution to their society and world.

But the ultimate purpose of an education at HSCA is much more than multiplication tables and science experiments. At the core of the educational experience at HSCA is the belief that every child is an eternal soul created in the image of a Holy God. It is this tenet that shapes and molds our school environment and that influences our decisions, from the small to the significant.

HSCA does not simply teach subjects – it builds worldviews. With this mindset, the significance of learning increases. The question changes from “What led to the American Civil War?” to “What do these events say about the nature of man?” Practice of long division leads to thoughts about the order and continuity of God. The studying of “common” topics are gateways for analyzing the realities of greater truths.

When a student graduates from HSCA, yes, they will have received preparation for a career. They will possess the skills that will allow them to make a positive contribution to society. But more than this, they will have acquired a lens through which life can be viewed and interpreted from a Biblical worldview. They will have obtained an education not just for time but for eternity as well.
